My mother can now do intricate embroidery after 25 years! Thanks to LOTUS & LRCS.

My mother has had to struggle with her vision all her life. She had to wear glasses since she was young, and it was always hard for her to manage without glasses. She was a school teacher and has accomplished a lot in life regardless of her poor eyesight. Since she always struggled with vision, she or we didn’t notice the gradual decline happening to her vision.

She had been squinting too much, had been reluctant to go out with us at night, watching television was hurting her eyes, and she stopped watching her favourite shows gradually. She was always careful not to bother any one of us with her difficulties.

We were busy with our lives, and she kept doing whatever she could to make our lives easier while her quality of life kept going down. It was me who finally noticed that my mom was struggling more than ever with her eyes.

I was home for a few months as I got pregnant, and that’s when I had the time to spend with my mother after my school days. She is a 55-year-old healthy woman, and she gave the impression of a 75-year-old when it required her to use her eyes like reading or finding any small thing from the drawer. She would take my pregnancy care products and read the labels up close. With her glasses on, she was usually able to read like any other person.

She wouldn’t sit with us watching TV past 7 pm. She was sleeping more than usual because there wasn’t much to do after finishing the household chores. I asked one of my cousins to take her to the eye doctor, and she got diagnosed with cataracts. With our situation, we weren’t able to proceed to surgery right away. We couldn’t take the risk of getting any outside help with this pandemic situation.

So we decided to wait and research our best options in the meantime.

And I found Lotus Eye Hospital’s LRCS option while googling for best cataract surgery in Coimbatore. Reading about the advanced surgery, we felt the need to consider it. We do have relatives, neighbors, and family friends who have had cataract surgery.

We knew the drill, and it definitely wasn’t attractive. I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle it on my own with a newborn baby. And we were looking for options that could minimize the struggle, and we were just lucky enough to land on this amazing team of doctors.

We went for a consultation, and they were really kind and understanding of our situation. We felt like we were in the right hands. With the first consultation itself, we gained the confidence to pull this off. The doctors explained the procedure and aftercare so well that we could see ourselves going through it comfortably.

I knew my mother had the best medical support. We decided to go forward with it and managed to get a relative on board, and we had our help. The rest was smooth sailing for us because everyone in Lotus was going out of their way to ensure our comfort.

My mom fondly remembers each and everyone who made this journey effortless for us. The LRCS surgery didn’t require any cuts or incisions that it pretty much felt like an eye check-up for my mom! The surgery only took around 20 minutes, and we got discharged after 2 hours! Everybody, Dr. A, Dr.B, the folks in surgery, the assistants, and everybody else was the best that we could hope for.

It was the results that amazed us! She no longer needed her glasses as the doctors inserted an artificial lens that catered to my mother’s needs. The recovery was gradual yet quick. It was getting better each day, and one fine evening I broke into tears watching my mom doing an intricate embroidery on a towel for my little one to arrive! It had beautiful tiny flowers on it.

I never knew my mom could do this magic, and she told me this used to be her hobby when she was a teenager! My mother literally became younger, energetic, and more enthusiastic for life! I gave birth to a baby girl, and granny and girl are totally clicking!

I am not exaggerating when we say my mother’s life quality went up a 1000% after the surgery. Words cannot hold the gratitude we feel for Lotus and their wondrous staff. From the front desk persona to the surgeons making the magic happen, everyone is humane, kind, and makes us feel like family. Our only regret? Not doing this a long time ago.

My mother is living her best life now and you deserve it too. And I can tell you this confidently, there is no better team to trust than this group of people in Lotus Eye Hospital. Thank you and I hope this helps someone to take the best decision in their life.
