Why you should not use your mobile before going to sleep?

One thing you do know even before reading this article is that this behavior is really unhealthy for you! Have you ever noticed how you don’t get a good night sleep after spending hours in front of your mobile screen?

Now, science can tell you why this happens, backed up by incontrovertible facts.

Cognitive stimulation!

Before you go to bed, your body has to wind down properly. The video games that you play, the incessant stalking you do on face book, the last minute reading of notes on your iPod – all of these combine to increase stress in your body.

So now, your body, instead of producing the hormone melatonin, which basically puts you to sleep, ends up releasing Cortisol. (Cortisol is a stress hormone that is responsible for waking you up).Basically our mobile screens or computer screens generate light at short wavelengths to produce white/blue light. This suppresses or delay the onset of melatonin release in the body which reduces sleep duration and disturbances in sleep or in other terms your brain perceives day and night from the amount and intensity of light falling on your eyes.So your brain perceives night as day and thereby keeps you awake. So our sleep is ruined…. So what? Why does it matter? The disturbance in the circadian rhythm of body (sleep cycle) increases risk for diabetes, obesity, Skin disorders, brain tumor & breast cancer.

The neurotoxins that are built up during the day can’t get cleaned unless you have a good night sleep. Those neurotoxins then hang around in your brain, making you groggy, impairing your memory and attention span. Not to mention, your metabolism will be ruined.

It can damage your eyes.

The blue light emitted from your personal electronic devices is part of the full light spectrum. We’re exposed to it by the sun each day, but nighttime exposure to that same light (which is emitted at high levels by smart phones, tablets, laptops and other LED screens) may be damaging your vision. Studies show that direct exposure to blue light can damage your retina. The American Macular Degeneration Foundation warns that retinal dam-age caused by blue light could lead to Macular degeneration, a condition that causes the loss of central vision. While it hasn’t been proven, there may also be a link between blue light exposure and cataracts.

How To Fix This Problem?

Of course, the best solution is to turn off the phones and computers and read a book instead.

Make healthy living a part of everyday..
